Flashback from 1956…

The above picture is of my mom.  If you click the photo, you’ll be redirected to a video that my Aunt Fran dug up this week. It’s actually a clip of my mother’s 3rd birthday!  Yes, 3rd!

I don’t know if it’s hormones or what, but every time I watch it, it makes me cry!  I can’t explain it.  I guess it’s just so neat to see my mom running around as a little girl.  I was also shocked when I saw it because that is pretty much exactly what I looked like at age 3.  (I don’t know why that should be shocking to me, as she is my biological mother and all!)   Watching this video was the first time I ever think I have seen any pictures of my mom taken prior to her pre-teen years.

It especially chokes me up to see her playing with the little boy on the bicycle toward the end.  That little boy was her older brother Harold, who died in Vietnam before I was even born.

I just thought that it was too cool not to share.  Our family doesn’t have a lot of videos like this floating around, so it was really a treat to see this one.  As soon as I watched it, I called her to make sure she had watched it, too.

I love memories like these.  🙂
