Lola returns with a THREE MONTH recap…

To say the last three months have flown by would be an understatement.  I cannot believe that my last blog post was April 28!  I have never ever gone so long between posts – ever – and I hope I don’t ever go that long again.

We’ve been very busy Griffins over here.  We enjoyed a May full of holidays, including the best Mother’s Day I’ve had!  Even though it was a few months ago it deserves a mention, because it really was a great day – full of relaxation and love, and a milk shake doesn’t hurt either!

Mothers Day 2015 - We went to Grub Burger Bar in Citycentre for our standard bunless burger and sweet potato fries.

My family got me a Kendra Scott necklace for Mother's Day, and since it was also my birth month we went to redeem the 50% off one item offer at the Color Bar! Poppyseed LOVED all of the jewelry...

In an attempt to go on vacation without the stress, I convinced Oatmeal to let me book a trip to the Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, Texas.  As an added bonus we got a great rate for the weekend of my 31st birthday.  The plan was to enjoy a vacation that involved less than 2 hours of traveling and an all-things-included type of feel.  The reality was rain.  Just lots and lots of rain.  We enjoyed ONE day at the pool, and for that we were super grateful.  The rest of the time we were pretty much exploring the (almost empty) hotel and trying to keep our 10 month and 3 year old busy… and it’s worth mentioning that Baby Middle was a total pill the whole time.  Oatmeal and I would actually laugh at how fussy he was and how often he woke up in the hotel, because, what else do you do?  Sure enough, a few teeth popped out the following week, and he is up to six total and back to being his MOSTLY happy and yet still very opinionated self ever since then.

We booked a room with a king bed and all snuggled together during night time and nap time. Well, we put Baby Middle in the pack and play, but he was up and down the whole time.

All things considered, our kids handle road trips pretty well. :)

Poppyseed had her last day of preschool and then we kicked off summer!

Can you BELIEVE this? Waaaahhhhh....

Can you BELIEVE this? Waaaahhhhh….

As any mom of small kiddos can vouch, summer isn’t much different than the rest of the year.  It’s just hot!

We go to the neighborhood pool almost every day, and this big kid rides her bike the entire way.

I am SO grateful for the pool. It's wonderful to have it at our fingertips yet not have to deal with any clean up.

I enrolled Poppyseed in a different preschool for next year, which happens to be the church we have enjoyed visiting, and they actually have a bible camp one week of every month.  So the way that works out is that I have her and Middle at home for 3 weeks in a row and then that bible camp will roll around and she will go Monday-Thursday from 10am-2pm.  She has only been for one week this summer, but she LOVED it.  She is such an easy kid when it comes to new activities, and I can only wonder how her little brother will be when it’s his turn.  As a side note, by no means have I decided what route we will take when it is time for her to begin kindergarten, but home schooling is really popular around here and we know lots and lots of families who seem to do it so well.  I always wonder if we went that route, how would I help her fill this need for social interaction?  The girl is like her mama – she THRIVES around other kids!

Now please don’t be like my mother and assume that since I mentioned home schooling ONE TIME it’s a done deal – I mean, I literally told her once that I was going to look into it in 2016 and she told all of her friends I was going to do it.  Let me be clear – I know zero, absolutely nothing, about it!  No decisions have or will be made in the near future.  It’s just something I ponder.

Speaking of how social my baby girl is, she rocked her first dance recital, and I have videos to prove it!

Otherwise our family has just been trucking along as normal.  Baby Middle gets more and more fun the older he gets.  He’s sleeping much better than he used to.  He goes down around 7pm, stirs at about 10-11pm until I nurse him, and then sleeps until around 5am.  I usually just nurse him again and let him sleep until after 6am.  He naps around 8:30am and again at 1pm.

So, the little man has to have his horse lovey. Every time I put him down I give it to him and he smiles and murmers into it. He even chews it sometimes.

He’s actually turning out to be really funny.  In so many ways he is such a sweet baby… his laugh is just precious and we get to hear it often!  He thinks Poppyseed is hilarious and is always giggling at her crazy antics.  On the other hand the kid is STRONG and it’s really pretty common to find a kitchen chair in the foyer, because his favorite activity is rearranging furniture …. and unplugging electrical cords.  Yikes.

We’ve seen a good deal of family this summer.  I went to visit my mom in Alexandria, and then my sister and her 3 kids came to visit us in late June.  We spent the fourth of July in Ruston with my dad, which was great!  It’s been a lot of fun, and now Oatmeal’s sister Kelley is in town and so we will be spending lots of time with her 4 kiddos.  Poppyseed loves her cousins, and there are lots to love.

It’s worth mentioning that Lola got a job!  I say that with some humor because I actually signed up to sell for a multi-level marketing/pyramid company.  This, my readers and friends, is something I said I would NEVER do.  You all know that I’ve been in sales before, and I’m also pretty health conscious.  My friend Megan had been selling for this company for a while and I was a faithful customer.  I decided to stock up on some of her products – sunscreen and bug spray in particular – and figured I may as well have one of those Facebook parties and try to earn some of her stuff for free.  I was on the fence about even having the party, but I figured if I really liked the brand that much then surely some of my friends would, too.  Clearly I am a huge dork because I spent more time posting into that party and actually having FUN doing it!  I earned a BOAT LOAD of free stuff and decided to just try my hand at selling it.  Welp, now I’ve got 22 people working underneath me and have been the number 1 sales person in my area for 2 months in a row.  In my decade of being a salesperson, from everything from event planning companies to pharmaceuticals, I have NEVER had fun selling the way I do now.  I suppose when you sell something you really like, it can be quite enjoyable.  Who knew?  This blog is certainly not going to turn into a sales pitch, but it’s something I simply had to mention!  The new gig has turned into such a huge time commitment and impacted my family in lots of ways.

Anyhoo, I certainly hope to make more time to blog. It’s been a great couple of months and I have a lot I want to remember!  I hope you are all having a great summer and if you blog, too, post yours in the comments or on my facebook page so that I can keep up.  🙂
